Shah Jo Risalo (Sindhi: شاھ جو رسالو‎) is a poetic compendium of famous Sindhi Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. In fact, it is many compendia, for Shah Abdul Latif’s poetry in various forms of bayt and wai was compiled by many of his devotees during his lifetime and after his death. The devotees compiled his poetry and designated it as Shah Jo Risalo or Poetry of Shah.

In this session, Jawad Sharif will share his insights on how to use cinema as a catalyst for social transformation. He will discuss the role of storytelling, visual language, and the power of film to evoke empathy and encourage engagement with important social issues. Join us to discover how you can leverage the art of filmmaking to make a difference in your community and beyond.

About the speaker:

Jawad Sharif is an award-winning Pakistani filmmaker, known for exploring socially relevant and often-ignored topics. He is a Ted Fellow and an alumnus of UCLA, the Swedish Institute, and Institut Fur Auslandsbeziehunge, Germany. He is the Festival Director of Asia Peace Film Festival and a founding member of Climate Kahani & Cinema For Change. His feature films include Indus Blues, The Losing Side, K-2 and the Invisible Footmen, The Color of Smog, Natari, and Beyond the Heights. His work has been screened in over a hundred festivals worldwide and won prestigious awards, including the best “Human Rights Award” at the Cannes World Film Festival.
